It is hard enough for non-traditional parties and independents to get on the ballot when public officials are trying to be fair. It's hardest when they are trying to be unfair, but its also unreasonably hard when they just don't care about such issues. Especially when there are complicated ballot access laws they expect you to comply with- and even they don't know what they mean. When this is done with good will, it is called "benign neglect", but too often we find cases malign neglect. Laya Bush of the Washington State Libertarian party shares her experiences with the latter.
