Clownfish or anemonefish is a fish belonging to the subfamily Amphiprioninae of the Salicaceae family. Thirty species of clownfish are recognized.
One belongs to the genus Premnas and the rest belong to the genus Amphiprion. In the wild, it forms a symbiotic relationship with sea anemones. Depending on the species, clownfish are generally yellow, orange, or reddish or blackish, and many display white bars or spots. The largest is 17 cm (6 + 1⁄2 inches), but the smallest barely reaches 7 to 8 cm (2 + 3⁄4 to 3 + 1⁄4 inches).
