If you have the option to invest in a 10-year Japanese bond with a yield of 0.5% or a 10-year US bond with a yield of 4%, it would be better to choose the US bond. However, the statement also implies that investing in gold would be a better option than investing in the US dollar or the Japanese bond over the next 10 years.
