Speaker Kevin McCarthy Hosts the Friends of Ireland Luncheon

The tradition began in the spring of 1983, when two proud Irish-Americans who didn’t see eye to eye on much agreed to break bread in honor of their motherland and its patron saint.
Almost every year since, every Speaker, every President, and every Prime Minister has set aside the issues of the day and gathered to toast the great St. Patrick.
