Indonesia ditches Visa, Mastercard in light of western sanction policies

16 Mar 23 As part of the new payment system launched last year, Indonesian President Joko Widodo called on Wednesday for his country to abandon the use of foreign payment networks like MasterCard and Visa and encouraged the public to adopt credit cards made by domestic banks, to shield any transactions from possible geopolitical fallout that could disrupt economic transactions.

BNI GPN credit card is expected to be issued in the quarter I/2023. The initial stage of issuing this GPN credit card will be used in the Central and Regional Government environment through Domestic Government Credit Card products.
