Road House remake star and UFC champion Conor McGregor praises his co-star Jake Gyllenhaal ahead of his eagerly anticipated acting debut. UFC fighter and soon-to-be actor Conor McGregor has nothing but praise for his Road House remake co-star Jake Gyllenhaal. Based on the 1989 cult film that starred Patrick Swayze, the forthcoming remake was greenlit last year in August with Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman at the helm. Earlier this month, Gyllenhaal filmed scenes for the movie at the real-life UFC 285 event in Las Vegas, earning praise for his heavily chiseled form and martial prowess. Now Gyllenhaal’s own co-star has joined those heaping praise upon the Spider-Man: Far From Home actor. In a video sourced by DailyMail.com , McGregor, who is set to make his acting debut in the film, described Gyllenhaal as being very “helpful” during filming. However, when asked if McGregor had plans for any other acting roles, he stated that he “really want[s] to get back to fighting” instead. Check out his comments below: Great man. Great guy. He's very patient with me, helpful. We shot some good stuff for the movie and can't wait to see it come to fruition. How Jake Gyllenhaal’s Road House Is Set To Differ From The Patrick Swayze Original Despite being savaged by critics and being nominated for five Golden Raspberry Awards, including Worst Picture, Worst Actor and Worst Director, Swayze's Road House would still go on to become a cult classic following its release on home video. With interest in the film generated mainly from Swayze’s involvement as the leading man and the often cheesy and over-the-top action sequences, it would also serve to spawn a far less revered direct-to-video sequel in 2006. To this day, the original Road House remains one of the most enjoyable bad films ever made. While the exact plot of Gyllenhaal’s Road House remake is still yet to be revealed, it has been suggested that the film will feature a similar storyline with a modern twist. There are, however, some changes that will inevitably set the new Road House apart from its predecessor. Moving the action from Missouri to the Florida Keys, Gyllenhaal’s character Elwood Dalton is depicted as a former UFC middleweight fighter who ends up working as a bouncer at a roadhouse where things are not all as they seem. Between McGregor’s involvement and the inclusion of former UFC fighter Jay Hieron, it would seem that the mixed martial arts championship is destined to play an instrumental role in the new film. While Swayze’s Road House action sequences often attracted a certain degree of ridicule, previous glimpses of Gyllenhaal’s fighting form hint at a much more intense and realistic approach to the film’s use of violence. While it remains to be seen how the finished product will fare, by all indications the Road House remake is set to feature some impressive fight scenes.
