NASA Partners Up With Scientists In India To Study Ice And Land On Earth
NASA and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) are partnering to launch a new spacecraft called NISAR (NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar) to study changes to the land and ice on Earth.
The spacecraft recently reached a major milestone when its science instrument payload was packed up and shipped from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California to ISRO's satellite facility in Bengaluru, India.
There, technicians and engineers will integrate the instruments into the main body of the satellite and conduct further testing in preparation for its launch in 2024.
NISAR's observations will cover a wide range of Earth processes, from glacier flow rates to earthquake and volcano dynamics.
The spacecraft's successful launch and operation will mark a significant step forward in the study and understanding of our planet's complex systems.
