Mechanism: Elite-sponsored agitators spread rumors about supposed corruption of resistance members. These rumors create internal division shattering the resistance movement from within.

The irony here is that resistance members often help spreading such rumors themselves, and thus unknowingly assist in their own destruction. The complicating factor is that resistance groups are often unstructured, where the elites are highly structured. Structure is an advantage specifically in this game

While publicly hunting THE TRUTH by spreading a building momentum of rumors works excellent when fighting a large government that has to keep up appearances, in the game of malevolent rumors this effect is reversed. Because while being right about a specific case, (CO does exist), engaging in rumors about is a game that easily is turne against you by the elites.

Elites play the malevolent rumor game better than the people, because they're able to tap into centuries of knowledge & colonial experience, passed on through ancient blood lines.

Another strategy is required to deal with the real problem of infiltrators and controlled opposition.
