Squirrel Plays Peek-a-Boo With Ellie 🦉 03/16/23 19:03

The Red Squirrel is back this evening. Climbing up and down the branches on the left of the nest, while peeking around several times to see Ellie. She lies there, watching, but not defensive. As this little squirrel is nothing more than a nuisance to her, but she does show her beak open several times when the squirrel passes, so most likely she is letting out a faint hiss that the speaker can't pick up. Just a warning sound so the squirrel knows who is the boss of the nest.
FYI: At this point, the squirrel is in no danger. They are much too quick for a lying owl to attack. As soon as Ellie would go to move, the squirrel would be gone.
