The Black Forest: Arguments Against Looking for Extraterrestrial Life
With billions of habitable planets, the universe is enormous and appears to be ripe with the possibility of supporting life. A technologically evolved civilisation could populate our galaxy in about 100 million years if it has the ability to travel between stars at just 0.1% the speed of light. Given the billions of years the milky way has been around, which is not very long, any spacefaring civilization should theoretically be able to spread quickly over vast areas of the galaxy.
