A man experiencing a medical emergency has been rescued from a fishing vessel by Coast Guard helicopter aircrew in the USA.

Watchstanders from the Coast Guard Sector Mobile reportedly transported a 45-year-old vessel crewmember approximately 180 miles south of the city of Pensacola, Florida State, USA, on Monday 6th March 2023.

The watchstanders reportedly rushed to help after they received a call from a good Samaritan vessel claiming that the crewmember of a 70-foot fishing vessel named Kim Nhi was in need of help.

Vessel members claimed that the man needed to be urgently airlifted to the hospital as he was experiencing a medical emergency.

Following the call, the Sector Mobile watchstanders coordinated the launch of a Coast Guard Aviation Training Center Mobile HC-144 Ocean Sentry aircrew and a Coast Guard Air Station New Orleans MH-60 Jayhawk helicopter aircrew to assist.

Upon arrival at the scene, the aircrew talked to the people on board the vessel and provided coverage for the arrival of the helicopter.

After the helicopter arrived at the scene, the 45-year-old man was immediately transferred to awaiting emergency medical services personnel at University Medical Center in New Orleans, USA.

The United States Coast Guard said in a statement obtained by Newsflash: "The man was last reported to be in stable condition."
