San Francisco approves draft of reparations bill, supports $5 million payout

On Tuesday night, San Francisco’s Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a draft plan to issue reparations to black residents. One of the 100 recommendations submitted by the city-appointed reparations committee included a one-time payment of $5 million. To be eligible, an individual must have identified as Black or African-American for 10 years, be at least 18-years-old, and meet at least two out of eight criteria on a separate list.
