How to make a Macrame Shamrock
A lucky charm shamrock key chain for Saint Patrick's Day or any time. If you want to just hang it, substitute the round split ring for a wooden ring. The Irish parade in Mystic is a huge event and everyone is alway looking for celtic knot shamrock, so I designed this pattern. You can also make it with hollow wood hearts which you can find on Amazon for a bigger shamrock, or use heart shaped floral frames for a big wreath sized shamrock.
You will need:
* 3 heart shaped split rings
* 1 round split ring or wooden ring
* 3 mm macramé cord - to figure out how much cord you need, measure around one of the hearts, you will need 9 times that amount per heart
* a yarn darner
This is more of an intermediate project. You should be familiar with macramé knots. The knots used in this project are a larks head knot, reverse double half hitch, square knot and a constrictor knot.

0:00 Introduction
0:03 You will need 3 heart split rings, 3 mm macrame cord, a yarn darner, and a split ring for the top.
0:15 To figure out how much 3 mm macrame cord you need, measure around a heart, you will need 9 times that amount for each heart
0:44 Fold your cord in half. You will start at the top of the heart for 2 rings, and the bottom of the heart for 1.
0:53 Attach your cord to top of heart with a larks head knot.
1:13 Tie reverse double half hitches until you get to the point of the heart.
1:34 Reverse double half hitch - over, under, over, under...
2:41 When you get to the point, start from the top again on the other side.
4:22 Tie the second heart exactly the same as the first.
6:00 For the third heart, start at the point.
7:47 Lay your 3 hearts together to form the shamrock. You should have 2 cord ends at the top, and 4 cord ends at the bottom.
8:00 Ply some of your cord and stitch the 3 points together on the back.
11:47 Turn the shamrock over. Put the top cord though the split ring and square knot down to attach the ring.
13:48 Tie a knot over the last square knot to secure the ends.
14:22 Turn your shamrock to the front and square the 4 bottom cords to make the stem.
16:19 Even out the cords and add a constrictor knot to end.
