What We Know About Gabby Petito Death

The coroner of Teton County Wyoming Brent Blue MD certified the cause of death as strangulation. He did not say whether the strangulation was manual or ligature- which is something that is used for tying or binding such as a rope.

What we do know:

Petito’s body was outside in the wilderness for 3-4 weeks- we don’t know if buried or out in the open
Gaby was not pregnant
A full-body CT scan was done
The FBI took DNA samples in order to consult with a forensic entomologist
Forensic entomologists are experts in the fields of criminal justice and science who can determine the time and source of death.
Intoxication was not the cause of death and was not mentioned as a contributing cause

Gabby was last seen alive on August 27 in Grand Teton National Park.
