Was this preventable?
Yes!!
1st there were wayy too many people packed into a relatively small area. An estimated 50,000 people.
People were packed in like sardines that is unsafe many attendees stated that they couldn’t breathe, that they had to look up to breathe
The concert should have been IMMEDIATELY stopped when the crowd surging started
Travis Scott should have been notified via security, in his ear piece, an announcement overhead should have been made, the music should have been stopped.
There were not enough medical staff, not enough security
The layout of the concert was unsafe and should have been better planned
Medical staff were completely overwhelmed an ICU nurse in texas that attended the event said there was only 1 AED and 1 stretcher.

That’s like firefighters going to fight a fire with no hose. We need medical equipment in order to do our jobs.
He has a history of inciting riots. He was arrested in 2015 for disorderly conduct when he told people to climb over the security barricades during his performance.
He urged the crowd to rush the stage
Organizers said it was a dangerous situtation but security was able to get it under control and they stopped Scott 5 minutes into his performance.
In 2017 Travis took a plea deal after he was arrested in May on suspicion of inciting a riot while performing at the Walmart AMP. He pled guilty and paid only 7,465.31

Several people were injured during the rush
In 2019 three people were hospitalized at Astro World with minor leg injuries
Several 2019 attendees told a news channel that the event had been poorly organized and they hoped that 2021 would be better organized.

Things that should be in place
Based on a study: published in prehospital and disaster medicine
Develop and drill incident action plans
Clearly identify medical personnel
Provide free drinking water to attendees
Designate multiple access points for EMS should transport be necessary or a mass casualty incident occur
At a minimum, provide medical personnel with the following supplies:
AEDS
ACLS Medications such as epinephrine
Narcan for ODs
Intravenous fluids
Benzodiazepines
Advanced airway equipment
Rapid sequence intubation medications

He’s offered to pay the funeral costs but its too little too late.
