How to Clean Rusty Tool Surfaces | Quickly Remove Light Rust

For whatever reason, my jointer bed rusted overnight. While its a hassle, it was easy to clean up using just some WD40 and a green Scotch Brite pad. After just a few minutes of work, I had the jointer bed and fence cleaned up and shiny. To help protect it, I added a coat of Paste Wax. This process will work great on Table Saws, Bandsaws, Drill Press tables, or any cast iron tool surface that has lightly rusted over. It may not be the best option for heavily rusted surfaces, but for a lightly flash rusted tool, its perfect.
