McConnell Released From Hospital, to Enter Rehab

An aide has reported that Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R., Ky.) has been released from the hospital, but he will be admitted to an inpatient rehabilitation facility before returning home. This means that he will have to remain away from the Senate for a more extended period.Show more

McConnell was hospitalized last week after he suffered a concussion from tripping at a private dinner held at a hotel, the Wall Street Journal reported.

“Leader McConnell’s concussion recovery is proceeding well and the leader was discharged from the hospital today. At the advice of his physician, the next step will be a period of physical therapy at an inpatient rehabilitation facility before he returns home,” said spokesman David Popp.

The statement did not specify a timeline for McConnell’s return to the Senate, as his stay at the facility could last over a week. According to an aide, his return will be determined by evaluations conducted by his doctors and therapists.
