In honor of the upcoming The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and the recent MAR10 Day, Nintendo announced that a new event for the mobile game Super Mario Run would be added to the game, allowing players to check out some of the game’s levels for free. Alongside the event itself, Super Mario Run is also getting a discounted price up until May 30, 2023. From now until then, the game will be $4.99, a 50% discount from the game’s original $9.99 price. Originally released in 2016, Super Mario Run is an auto-run game that sees players manipulating Mario to jump, slide, and duck around obstacles as you traverse through a variety of levels. The Super Mario Bros. Movie is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (Teen Titans Go!) from a screenplay written by Minions: The Rise of Gru scribe Matthew Fogel. It is produced by Chris Meledandri for Illumination and Shigeru Miyamoto for Nintendo. The film features the voices of its all-star cast including Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.
