What TF is going on with Twitter Blue?

When Elon Musk transformed the 14 year old verification program into a paid service he broke a fundamental trust between users and the service. Now Twitter Blue is using the likeness of the famous people it's branded over the years to sell promotional services to paid subscribers who seem to trend towards the conspiratorially minded. As far as I can tell, there's no way for me to give my badge back.
