Timber Preparation - Part 2: Oak Casement Window

In part 2 of the how to make a casement window series I am selecting the timber and preparing it to a PAR form (planed all round) for machining the window components. Again not a "Wow" video but there is a lot of important steps to be taken and can make or break a nice window based on your decisions at this stage. The main problem being splits in the timber. The planing process is also essential to get right. Straight and square timber will lead to much better and accurate joinery than if the timber is bent, twisted or not square. An out of square piece of timber will not go through the spindle moulder at full depth of cut, leading to gaps in joints. It will also, if using a tenoner mean the timber won't be supported at the back leading to breakout and on the whole causes issues!
