Curve Ball

She cries herself to sleep
No one else beneath the sheets
No rhythm of love
Is falling from above

She gets of work at five
She’s got miles and miles to drive
Quick tear then a smile
Curve ball for awhile

She’s wondering
If she’ll find her way
She says shine a light
Shine a light my way

Her postage stamp won’t stick
Cup of coffee should do the trick
She seals it with a kiss to pay the rent
That’s the last dime she just spent

Spreads her wings, she can’t fly
Holds her head and wonders why
Moves up to the window sill
Out of breath, she’s got will

She’s wondering
If she’ll find her way
She says, shine a light
Shine a light my way

Even when its dark outside
You’ll find your way home
How’d your life reach this page
I guess we’ll really never know

You turn around and say
Shine a light my way
Shine a light
Shine a light my way
She says shine a light
Shine a light my way

Another birthday passes by
So do streetcars in the night
Its cold out side
Won’t someone turn on a light?
