The Spirit and the Word

The Bible is amazing and such a gift from God. Satan has been trying to outlaw, or throw out the bible since it was compiled. All scripture is God-breathed and able to be used for correction, instruction and most of all to reveal more of Jesus to us. The bible contains the foundation of our faith, that is the teaching of the Apostles. The early church dedicated themselves to the Apostles' teaching. There is so much glory and value in meditating on the scriptures. (2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20)

The bible is not God nor is it anywhere close to equal with the Holy Spirit. The gift Jesus left us to lead us into all truth is the Holy Spirit and the Holy Spirit definitely uses the scriptures to reveal Jesus to us. The scriptures should be read to see more of Jesus, not as a guide book. The devil knows the bible better than any man alive and will quote it to bring condemnation, death and bondage to people. He even quoted it to Jesus. Men’s study of the scriptures through human reason has been cause for much division in the world and in the body of Christ. Spiritual truths are only discerned through the Holy Spirit. We are completely dependent upon God to understand the scriptures. (John 1:14, John 5:39-40, Luke 4:10-11, 1 Corinthians 2:14)

John 14-16

Then Satan stood against Israel and incited David to number Israel. So David said to Joab and the commanders of the army, “Go, number Israel, from Beersheba to Dan, and bring me a report, that I may know their number.” But Joab said, “May the Lord add to his people a hundred times as many as they are! Are they not, my Lord the king, all of them my Lord’s servants? Why then should my Lord require this? Why should it be a cause of guilt for Israel?”
(1 Chronicles 21:1‭-‬3 ESV)

Again the anger of the Lord was kindled against Israel, and he incited David against them, saying, “Go, number Israel and Judah.” So the king said to Joab, the commander of the army, who was with him, “Go through all the tribes of Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, and number the people, that I may know the number of the people.”
(2 Samuel 24:1‭-‬2)
