Every now and then in our journey towards the Heavenly Jerusalem we are going to enter into spiritual deserts. We wake up one morning and feel a kind of strange absence of the Lord.

In my early days as a believer I would immediately think I had done something wrong, or sinned and didn't know it. I would run through lists of possible sins and transgressions. I didn't understand.

As decades have gone by I still venture into desert places. Though now I do not react the way I did in the days my youth. I know that the Lord is always on the move, and keeps us moving. Which keep us growing up in Him. Strengthening us, causing us to trust in Him. Not in feelings that are fleeting.

It creates a deeper crevice in our hearts that yearns more deeply for Him than when we have had sense of His Presence with us all the time. If you are feeling this same thing do not fear.

These desert places seem to get rid of all the unnecessary spiritual fluff. You will find that it is ONLY Jesus that you want, and no one and nothing else.

It is His purpose to get you to a place where He can command you to do a thing without having to feel anything. But to walk on even places with a quiet humility as a ready-servant of the Lord Jesus Christ.

"If you are going to be used by God, He will take you through a number of experiences that are not meant for you personally at all. They are designed to make you useful in His hands, and to enable you to understand what takes place in the lives of others." ~ Oswald Chambers
