Like my impact driver and laser level, this miter saw is definitely ready and able to get the job done. I cut redwood 2x4s today and even the wettest ones were no match for this saw.
The cut was so smooth, it made me feel bad I bought rough cut planks. I combined the saw with the compact stand and the worst part of the cut was my drawing lines with my pencil.I cant wait for my indoor jobs with beveled moldings.
I do a lot of remodeling work on houses. Buy one, fix it up and flip it. Ive had this saw for 4 months. I bought this at a homebuilders trade show before they were offered on Amazon.
I watched a factory rep demo it. I figured it would be okay for light duty, maybe trim boards and the occasional 2x4 but this tool has truly surprised me.
I own 11 other DeWalt 20v max tools that have proven to be bulletproof and liked the idea of a cordless chopsaw. So far I have cut hundreds of 2x4, 1x2, fence posts and a few 4x4.
The unit is light enough to carry around the jobsite with one hand. Try that with the 12" DeWalt compound miter saw. That thing is a back buster. No extension cords or wasting time looking for a power source.
SAVES SO MUCH TIME!!! I bought 2 quality blades, a 24 tooth Diablo Demo Demon for rough cuts and a Diablo 60 tooth for finish cuts. That made a big difference.
It comes with a DeWalt 40 Tooth blade that is very good for 2x4 cuts but the Diablo blades really made this tool shine. This tool is very well engineered.
DeWalt took all their knowledge of the bigger chop saws and put it into a cordless model. The sliding mechanism is smoother than my 12" DeWalt and even though it only bevels one way it can still make any cut you need.
If you already own a few 20V Max DeWalt tools adding this chopsaw to your collection should be your next step.
Just a few words from a master carpenter....This is a saw of convenience. It is not intended to cut 7-1/4" crown nested against the fence. (I personally do not know any true "carpenters" that nest their crown, you cut it FLAT you posers!
)This saw is intended for the small job. The job you have where you dread pulling the big saw off the trailer and setting it up. The punch out saw where you can work in a confined area with minimal tools and make minimal dust.
Perfect for shoe mold (with a soft fence attached of course) and tie ins.The one star review given by a "contractor " is foolish.
It is nice having a saw bevel both left and right so you can be comfortable with what you cant accomplish otherwise due to a complete lack of carpentry basics, but you can cut a 38, 42, 45, or 48 degree crown laying flat and never touch your dedents again!
Oh, but you would have know something about carpentry to figure that one out,,, guess thats why I can charge $80 an hour and you work from the back of your truck.
You move the material, NOT THE SAW!! !This saw is the perfect saw for cutting casing. The blade is small therefore there is zero blade deflection. The joints align perfectly EVERY TIME!
The shadow trace line is great. Just like all of my big saws with this option, it tends to take an extra 1/32" beyond the line. lasers are always inaccurate and they always look blurry.
Thank you Dewalt, for making something we can appreciate!As far as throat plates are concerned... The factory throat plates are but a suggestion.
