What happened with Megan the Stallion is easily the biggest storyline factoring into Tory Lanez allegedly being blacklisted by the music industry, but it isn’t the only narrative playing a part in what’s going on. There’s also his close association with fellow controversial artist DaBaby to take into consideration. In the aftermath of what happened with Megan, DaBaby – whom Megan had always considered being a friend -- would seemingly side with Tory, even going so far as to bring Lanez out on stage at Rolling Loud in the immediate aftermath of Megan’s own performance in the summer of 2021. Regardless, whatever Tory was hoping to accomplish by teaming up with DaBaby, it wound up backfiring and hurting him more by association. Then there’s August Alsina. In September of 2022 rumors began flying that Tory and August had gotten into a physical confrontation after sharing words back and forth online in regard to Alsina’s “entanglement” with Jada Pinkett Smith.
