BEFORE side-eyeing his way into the history books and earning himself the nickname of “Popeyes Kid” as well as the dubious honor of being one of the early 2010s most popular memes – Dieunerst Collin was born on February 9th, 2004 in East Orange, New Jersey. The first nine-or-so years of Collin’s life were rather uneventful as far as national exposure goes, but then, one day, while waiting in the soda fountain line at his local Popeyes, the kid’s entire life would change forever when a man named Samuel Jean recorded himself approaching Collin -- mistaking him to be Lil Terrio, one of the now defunct Vine platform’s formerly most popular stars. As the video unfolded, instead of just playing along with this random dude’s demand to spit out Terrio’s obnoxious catchphrase, Collin instead reacted as any kid being approached by a stranger should – with a picture-perfect side-eye glance. From that point forward, Collin became known by one name and one name only as far as the internet was concerned -- the “Popeyes Kid”. The resulting Vine that captured this moment went incredibly viral, earning millions of loops. From there, Collin’s image was disseminated all across the internet in a series of screencaps and GIFS deployed by millions around the globe whenever they needed a perfect expression of severe awkwardness.
