When Mike and Chris came together just before the onset of the pandemic, they knew that they needed a name, so they settled on calling themselves “Hotel Ugly” based off of a real hotel located in downtown Bryan, Texas. While the name of that accommodation isn’t actually “Hotel Ugly”, the building was so hideous that it inspired both brothers nonetheless. When everything got started for these two professionally speaking, they were already living together as a result of the worldwide lockdown in early 2020. This forced close proximity ensured that they had the time on their hands necessary to pump out a whole bunch of music. Looking back on it now, both brothers consider that period to be a difficult time in their lives, but they managed to make the best out of it and totally re-invent the path their careers would take.
