BEFORE emerging as one of the music industry’s most visionary and unique artists just one year after beginning his journey, D4VD [DAVID] was born David Anthony Burke on March 28th, 2005 in Queens, New York. He spent the first few years of his childhood in that extremely condensed neighborhood before his family moved to the much more wide-open spaces of Houston, Texas. There, David grew up in a Christian household but gravitated towards dark and violent graphic novels – in particular, manga such as “Attack on Titan” and “Demon Slayer”. David’s been homeschooled since the time he was 13. He used to love having friends to hang out with at lunch, but eventually, he began to feel confined by his education. In an interview with the Line of Best Fit he worded it like this:: “I feel like creativity-wise, they held me back, just because I was trying to do what everybody else was doing, always having that group mentality. I had to step back and cut everything off, so I had time to really think for myself rather than everything else that was around me.” When he left school, David was hopeful that the friends he had made would remember to keep him in mind and reach out every so often. Unfortunately, they never did. Following that turn of events, David became much more anti-social and started playing video games all the time, indulging himself as a means of escape. But it would also lead to bigger and better things.
