Biden requests record-high amount for defense budget

US President Joe Biden has requested a record-high amount, a colossal $886 billion, for the country's national security budget next year. The vast majority of the requested budget would go directly to the Pentagon.

The Defense Department wants to use that cash to tackle a perceived threat from China, as well as to provide aid to Ukraine and funding for NATO.
