HOW TO MAKE BIRYANI

INGREDIENTS:

2 cups of basmati rice
1 pound of chicken (or meat of your choice)
1 large onion, sliced
2 tbsp of ginger-garlic paste
2-3 green chilies, finely chopped
1 tsp of red chili powder
1 tsp of turmeric powder
1 tsp of cumin powder
1 tsp of coriander powder
1 tsp of garam masala
2-3 bay leaves
4-5 cloves
4-5 cardamom pods
1 cinnamon stick
1 cup of plain yogurt
Salt to taste
1 tbsp of ghee or oil
Chopped coriander leaves for garnish
DIRECTIONS:

1: First, wash the rice thoroughly and soak it in water for about 30 minutes.

2: In a separate pot, boil water and add the soaked rice. Cook it for 5-7 minutes until the rice is about 70% cooked. Strain the rice and set it aside.

3: In a large pot or a pressure cooker, heat the ghee or oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and sauté until it becomes golden brown.

4: Add the ginger-garlic paste and sauté for a minute. Add the green chilies and mix well.

5:Add the chicken or meat and mix it with the onion mixture. Add all the spices including chili powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder, garam masala, bay leaves, cloves, cardamom pods, and cinnamon stick.
Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes.

6: Add the plain yogurt and salt to taste. Mix well and cook for another 5-7 minutes until the chicken or meat is cooked through.

7: Now, add the cooked rice on top of the chicken or meat mixture. Spread it evenly and add some chopped coriander leaves on top.

8: Cover the pot with a lid and cook on low heat for 15-20 minutes until the rice is fully cooked and fluffy.

9: Once done, turn off the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving.

10: Your delicious biryani is now ready! Garnish with some more chopped coriander leaves and serve hot.
