King Charles III Bestows Title of Duke of Edinburgh to Brother

Inheriting a title previously held by their late father, Prince Philip, King Charles III has bestowed the title of Duke of Edinburgh upon his younger brother.

On Friday, Buckingham Palace announced that Prince Edward was granted the title on his 59th birthday, the Associated Press reported.

As the youngest child of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, Prince Edward has been granted the title of Duke of Edinburgh, and his wife Sophie will now be referred to as the Duchess of Edinburgh.

Their son, 15-year-old James, will take on the title previously held by Edward and become the Earl of Wessex, as reported by the AP.
