Scenes of violence erupted in the Old Trafford stands as Betis fans clashed with police. There is even talk that one person threw a seat and another used his belt as a weapon.

The Spanish team was thrashed 4-1 in the first leg of the UEFA Europa League Round of 16 and at the end of the match the spirits heated up in the area where the visiting team was located.

The conflict began when the Spanish team tried to fight with the supporters of the rival team, forcing the authorities to take action and the confrontation began.

According to witnesses, riot police were forced to spray gas when Betis fans tried to climb over a barrier separating them from United supporters.

Manchester United practically sealed their pass to the next round in the continental competition, although they will have to finalize the process at the Beníto Villamarín stadium next Thursday.
