Tito's Underground Air Base, Bihac (Zeljava) Underground Yugoslav Air Force Base

Exploring the Unbeaten Path is visiting Zeljava Air Base, the largest underground airport in Europe. It is located right on the border between Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This place was put into operation in 1968 and was destroyed by the Serbian military in 1991-1992.
Since then it has been a dangerous abandoned place, as mines and unexploded munitions are still scattered around. This place is also a smuggling route and an illegal way to the EU for illegal immigrants, so there are many police patrols. We also visit a "submarine" tunnel called "Hitler's Eyes".
