Canada: MP Raquel Dancho discusses bill on intimate partner and family violence

At a news conference on Parliament Hill, Senator Pierre-Hugues Boisvenu is joined by Conservative MP Raquel Dancho to discuss his bill (S-255) to classify murder of an intimate partner or one’s own child as first-degree murder. They are joined by Geneviève Caumartin, vice-president of the Association des familles de personnes assassinées ou disparues, and Nicole Bau, the mother of Cheryl Bau-Tremblay, who was murdered by her partner in 2015. The legislation is currently at second reading in the Senate. (March 9, 2023)
