Fentanyl: Where is it Crossing the Border? 💊☠️💉

Fentanyl is a synthetic Opioid that is 50-100 times stronger than Morphine. It is also short acting, leading users to redose more often, leading to a much higher likelihood of an OD and death. 💀
After the US pulled out of Afghanistan and the Taliban came back into power, they outlawed the growing of Opium Poppy and destroyed many of the plantations that US Troops were formerly protecting to win the "Hearts & Minds" of Afghans. This crackdown by the Taliban created a shortage of Heroin on the streets of America.

To compensate for this decline in Opium/Heroin supply, Cartels began mixing Heroin with Fentanyl because it is so cheap and potent, providing a bigger bang for the buck. The problem is these mixing labs are run by Cartel members, not professional lab techs. It is not uncommon for illegal Opioid pills to have widely different levels of Fentanyl in them due to improper mixing. One pill may get you high, the next may cause you to overdose and die.

While the vast majority of illegal Fentanyl comes over the border from Cartels inside Mexico. It originates in China.

Border Patrol are also now finding Heroin mixed with Carfentanil. An extremely potent opioid analgesic which is used in veterinary medicine to anesthetize large animals such as Elephants and Rhinoceroses. Carfentanil is 10,000 times stronger than Morphine.
