The protest organisers called for a 'day of resistance to the dictatorship', claiming that hundreds of rallies will take place across the country. "We will overcome and protect Israeli democracy. We will stop the destruction of Israeli democracy with our body and soul," their statement read. The country has seen weekly protests following Netanyahu’s return to power and the announcement of new legislation by Justice Minister Yariv Levin, which would give members of parliament greater powers over the Supreme Court.
