The Terracotta Army is one of the most significant archaeological discoveries in China. Discovered by farmers digging a well in 1974, the site consists of over 100,000 artefacts from 2000 years ago during the reign of Emperor Qin Shi Huang. The site includes 8,000 life-sized terracotta soldiers, chariots, and horses that are all unique in their facial features, clothing, and hairstyles.

They were arranged in military formation with incredibly detailed and well-made bronze swords, indicating a high level of metallurgical knowledge and skill. A mystery as this level of technology was not commonly available during the Qin dynasty. Other mysteries include the use of mercury in the underground palace of the mausoleum and the sealing soil used in the pits, which is extremely firm and cannot be ruptured by bombs.

Archaeologists have not been able to uncover Emperor Qin Shi Huang's tomb as it remains sealed, the tomb itself is said to be hollow, but this has yet to be confirmed.
