"I Took for Myself Two Staffs ... Beauty and ... Bonds"

Zechariah predicted the destruction of the nation because it will Reject the Messiah. God will reject the shepherds of Israel for misleading and mistreating the people. Two staffs, Beauty and Bonds, symbolized the blessings and unity of Israel and Judah, but both would be broken. The price paid for the shepherd symbolizes the people’s rejection of the Messiah and the destruction of the nation.
