On this episode of Aftershocks TV's SKULLSESSIONS SALUTE, Matt chats with Metal Blade Records founder and CEO Brian Slagel. Brian starts off by discussing Metal Blade's 40th anniversary in 2022 and how his love for heavy metal lead to an unplanned career in the music business thats lasted over four decades. Slagel talks about the fanzine days in the early 80's where he and Bob Nalbandian simultaneously created their own publications The New Heavy Metal Revue & The Headbanger. Brian talks about meeting Nalbandian at an Armored Saint show and what he contributed to the heavy metal community and scene over the years. Slagel also talks about the unconventional signing of The Goo Goo Dolls in the late 80's, surviving the 90's when metal's popularity was at an all-time low, how Metal Blade were able to thrive when technology took over the music industry in the early 2000's and more.
