New technological trends and practices can frequently bring opportunities as well as obstacles for higher education. Current advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) and chatbots, big data analytics, digital credentialing, and the sharing of openly licensed educational resources, to name a few, all point to new arrangements that may or should be made for teaching, learning, and evaluation. Concern and discussion about the evolving demands and expectations of our students as well as the growing globalization and marketization of higher education itself are also sparked by the recent global experience of emergency remote teaching and the ongoing massification of online learning.
