Dorothy Kilgallen was a well renowned New York journalist and TV personality in the 1950s - 60s. She took a skeptical view of the Warren Commission's conclusion that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in killing President Kennedy. Kilgallen got an exclusive interview with Jack Ruby at his trial, and later published a leaked transcript of Ruby's testimony to the Warren Commission before it was public.

She told her friends she would blow the assassination case wide open in her upcoming book. On the morning of November 8th, 1965, Kilgallen was found dead in her townhouse of an alcohol and barbiturate overdose. Her research was gone. No police investigation ever took place.
