Dan goes solo on this podcast after giving a couple of presentations on the topic of safe use of chainsaws in the canopy and good work positioning. This subject is one that Dan is very passionate about, and is also one that causes many disagreements among arborists, employees and employers. Arboriculture as an industry has an extremely high incident and injury rate compared to most other industries. The reason being is, there are so many risks that we are faced with in the industry, but the majority of these risks can be mitigated. So why is it that when it comes to some of the more serious risks like cutting ourselves with chainsaws or falling from height, that many people are willing to take chances and expose themselves to more of a risk than is necessary.
There are so many people that can and will be affected by an injury, family, friends, co-workers etc, some of these people depend on you, would you really want to put them in a situation were you depend on the for physical, emotional and financial support?
Once you have listened to this podcast, please take my challenge of trying 2 hands on the chainsaw and 2 Tie in points for 6 weeks, I promise you, you will make huge strides in the way you climb, and become a much better, safer and more efficient climber because of it.
