Order from Chaos - Satisfying Marbles play “The Lark” by Glinka/Balakirev

Marbles bounce through a plinko pegboard and hit the correct piano key at the perfect time. In this version of the piano printer I created a rainbow spectrum for the key presses, as well as the usual portrait formation from the falling marbles.

Massive thanks to Benny Wollin for his amazing performance of this piece. He also helped me by adding final decorations to the Blender scene including textures, the wire, and mechanical arms on the two sliders. Here is a link to his website:

Also thank you to Ben Tardif for letting me use the marble dropping audio from his videos for the very beginning. Link to his channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC50EPhp8q2yByPIlr_xE48A

Seamless transition from the plinko/pegboard to the music was tricky to accomplish. It was especially difficult because each change I made had to iterate over thousands of different notes. Blender scripting in python is my best friend.

This was the first time I've used Cycles to render my project, and I don't think I'll be able to go back to Eevee. Ray tracing looks amazing! It took my poor computer over a week to render the whole thing at ~1min per frame running 24 hours a day.

I clocked ~70 hours working on this project.
