A few flights through the eyes of the Yak-130 pilot.
A few flights through the eyes of the Yak-130 pilot.
The most asked question about the Yak-130 is as follows: "What are these serpentine garbage on the lantern of this flyable?"
I answer: regular ejection on the Yak-130 occurs through a lantern. Even more accurately through the lantern. Unlike other aircraft, where the canopy is fired off before ejection, here they went the other way. More brutal. Serpentine crap is a pyro-cord with an explosive charge that blows up the whole lantern when ejecting, and the pilot happily exits through it, along with the chair, into the fresh air. To protect against smoke-flame-fragments, a helmet with an automatically lowered light filter, an attached oxygen mask, flight gloves and a raised collar are used. 😎
