What is the story behind town Ave Maria - Florida?
Ave Maria, Florida , is southwest Florida's newest community was founded in 2005 by the Ave Maria Development Company, a partnership consisting of the Barron Collier Companies and the Ave Maria Foundation led by Roman Catholic philanthropist Tom Monaghan, founder of Domino's Pizza and leader of Ave Maria University.
Ave Maria, Florida, conveniently located just 20 miles east of Naples and 80 miles west of Fort Lauderdale. Ave Maria's location in southern Florida shares the same subtropical wetland ecosystem as the Florida Everglades.

Ave Maria University (AMU) is a private Roman Catholic university in Ave Maria, Florida. It shares its history with the former Ave Maria College in Ypsilanti, Michigan, which was founded in 1998 and moved its campus in 2007. The two schools were founded by philanthropist and entrepreneur Tom Monaghan. In 2016, the enrollment was 1,100 students, 80% of whom were Catholic.

The town was planned with the large Ave Maria church in the center, the façade of which displays sculptor Márton Váró's 30-foot-tall (9 m) sculpture of the Annunciation, depicting the Archangel Gabriel greeting the Virgin Mary with the words "Ave Maria" (Hail Mary)

IThe oratory in Ave Maria was built primarily to serve as the chapel for the university, just as many private Catholic colleges have their own private chapels. The Ave Maria oratory is different, however, because in addition to serving the needs of the university, it also operates as a parish in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Venice. While this dual use is uncommon, it is necessary because otherwise the residents of Ave Maria would have no local church in their town. But neither Tom Monaghan nor the university controls what goes on in the oratory. It is administered by a diocesan priest who reports to the bishop, and this administrator has full control over all religious activities that take place in the oratory. However, land has been set aside in Ave Maria by developers for a separate diocesan parish church that is expected to be built when the population of the town reaches an appropriate level.#avemariaflorida
