Two of the four Americans who were held captive and survived a kidnapping in Mexico last week were taken back into the U.S. shortly before noon on Tuesday amid a heavily armed convoy of Mexican military Humvees and National Guard trucks with mounted machine guns.

The State Department said on Tuesday said the surviving victims were both repatriated with the assistance of the Mexican government. The department didn't name them, but the mother of LaTavia Washington McGee confirmed she is at a Texas hospital and the wife of Eric James Williams said he was shot in the leg.
