🐀 Feeding Orphaned Rat Pups 🐀

Syringe feeding of orphaned White Bellied Roof Rat pups, using a mixture of Fox Valley formula + Meyenberg powdered goat's milk + heavy cream and added additional vitamins and minerals. Makeup sponge applicators or precision glue applicator tips are used, because a bare syringe or dropper will cause a tiny baby to aspirate and choke, as the drops are too big. Rat and mice pups don't often fare well on normal milk replacement formulas alone, as they are not nutrient dense enough for the volume for tiny babies like these, though rats are easier to raise than mice. They do fare better on goat's milk Esbilac + heavy cream, or some report success with rat pups using soy based human infant formula, but I have never tried it. I would expect that it too would need additional fat and protein added to it.
