Adjacent light-emitting LEDs are connected electrically in series or parallel and the electrical drive signal applied to them affects them simultaneously. The result is that each light-emitting LED ends up emitting the same amount of light and the image composed of them appears uniform. The advantages of using an array of light-emitting LEDs as a pixel tube include improved clarity and brightness of the image, as well as improved contrast and uniformity.
