Mass rallies and strikes in France over Macron's pension reform. Hundreds of thousands protested and a strike disrupted transport and schools in France on Tuesday amid protests against President Emmanuel Macron's plans to raise the retirement age to 64.
Police fired tear gas in Paris and there were minor clashes in the western city of Nantes, but the more than 260 union-organized rallies across the country were mostly peaceful.
Leaders vow to bring France 'to a standstill'
Only one in five regional and high-speed trains are running, and the Paris Metro system is operating on a limited basis.
