Humanity NEEDS something to fill the "void"

Humanity needs something to fill the "void" we feel. Whether it's family, theology, vices, oneself, or something else entirely - we all engage in, to some degree or another, an attempt to fill that figurative (or literal) "space."

Most of us, and yes, we're broad stroking, need to believe in something. We're not suggesting it should be in one direction or the other - merely that the human experience almost necessitates it.

What do you think though? Do we all need to believe in something, and if not, what is your position on the alternative?
